Hair

As explained in the End of Year Review there is an issue with messy hair from some students. This is dangerous and very distracting to the student. It is also part of dance discipline that students arrive suitably dressed and groomed for class. From September students must have tidy and secure hair as described in the Fordingbridge Dance Studios safety rules. This is sometimes not practical for younger students who arrive directly from school. However, it should be pulled back neatly.

1. For Tap, Modern and Stage – this can be a ponytail, plaits, tight bunches, but they must be secure, and not coming in front of the students face, or are going to fall out when they start jumping around. Fringes must be gripped back with slides/clips so they are clear of the eyes.

2. For Ballet and Acro – this must be a secure bun using pins, grips and a bun net (preferably an invisible one, but a crochet one is acceptable) – there will be instructions and a video on the Fordingbridge Dance Studios website! Again fringes must be clipped back. If students have short hair, a hair net and hair band should be used, or two little bunches high on the head to keep the hair off the face.
